Welcome to Crici Psychotherapy. I am a qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor and together, we can work to overcome the current issues you are facing so that you can live a better life.

Beyond the mental health knowledge I bring on board I aim to offer a safe, trustworthy and culturally sensitive presence in the sessions. I have worked with a variety of issues such as: anxiety, depression, emotional and cultural issues, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, abuse, loss, difficult life events and stress.

I have experience working in Brazil and in England. I started working with clients in 2014 and my work is underpinned by Gestalt Therapy, Jungian Psychology, EMDR and the Trauma Informed Approach.

Services Q&A

What is psychotherapy?

Sometimes life just seem to become too hard and the more we try the more we seem to get tangled up. Psychotherapy offers a safe and non-judgemental place with a trained professional where you can share your sorrows and troubles with the peace of mind of confidentiality. After the relief of sharing you can then start to understand what your role is in the situation you find yourself in, slowly detangling the ropes that were tying you back. And once you are no longer held back you can then, with professional support and a clearer mind, make choices to take you where you want to be. In order to facilitate this process I am committed to creating a welcoming, safe and respectful therapeutic environment in which clients can feel comfortable bringing and dealing with their issues.

Psychotherapy is more long-term than counselling and focuses on a broader range of issues.

What clients I work with?

How long does a session last?

50 minutes.

How long does the therapeutic process last?

It depends on the issue and the level of support needed.

How much does a session cost?

Please get in touch for more information.

What happens when I first contact the therapist?

We will then schedule a 20-minute, free of charge, initial conversation to find out if we have the means to work together (whether your case is within my area of expertise for example). This is also important so that we are able to get a feel of how working together might be. I will not ask you to commit at the end of our chat, I will ask you to let me know, when you are ready, if you would like to start therapy with me. We will then schedule your first full session.

What happens in the first session?

We will talk about the reasons why you are looking for therapy (you are not expected to talk in detail about a painful event or any other issue that brings you unnecessary pain) and we will also clear questions that you might have.

What if it is an online session?

We will previously agree on a time and software (Zoom, Skype etc.). It is important that you reduce distractions and ensure that your environment is quiet and private (earphones can be an aid). You will also need a strong Internet connection.

Sessions are usually with video call but if your preference is voice call just let me know. Online sessions also last 50 minutes.

Guidelines for Emergency Contact

Psychotherapy & counselling cannot provide an emergency service for clients. If you are currently experiencing an emergency or major life crisis and are considering serious self-harm, it is vital to get immediate help. This could include contacting your GP or your nearest A&E service. You could also contact the Samaritans on 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org (emergency email support).
